It can be used with 1 or 2 aftermarket pumps, with several pump options available. This drop-in unit replaces the OEM in-tank fuel pump module and is safe for use with alternative fuels such as E85.

The Radium Engineering fuel pump hanger features a carefully designed collector box that keeps fuel trapped around the fuel pump(s).

Inside, the fuel pumps are carefully packaged, along with the associated wiring and plumbing. Fuel is fed out of the top plate through a single threaded port and low-profile adapter fitting. Fuel pressure is regulated inside the Radium hanger and is adjustable. The OEM fuel level sender is transferred onto the Radium hanger, so full functionality is retained.

The OEM fuel tank access cover and rear seat bench fit without modifications.

PREVENTING FUEL STARVATION

Several mechanisms work together to move fuel into the collector box and keep it as full as possible at all times. This helps the pump(s) have adequate fuel available, even during aggressive driving. The internal pump(s) are supplied with fuel from 3 different sources:

The venturi jet pump fuel scavenged from the passive side of the tank.

The returned fuel from the integrated fuel pressure regulator.

The two 1-way fill valves on the bottom of the collector box.

The one-way fill valves allow fuel in, but not out. While all efforts are made to maximize the starvation protection that a factory tank can offer, this is not a guaranteed fuel starvation solution. For true redundant starvation protection, a fuel surge tank may be necessary.

VENTURI JET PUMP

The OEM venturi jet pump in the return line creates a restriction when using high flowing fuel pumps. Radium Engineering has redesigned the siphon system to eliminate this restriction but still effectively scavenge fuel. This means higher flowing pumps can safely be used without fuel pressure issues. Depending on fuel pressure, the venturi jet pump will consume 15-45 LPH from the feed line. Take this fuel loss into consideration when sizing the fuel pumps. Connection to the crossover venturi system is made easy with the provided SAE quick connections (shown below).

Also, if it is important for fuel pressure to hold steady after the engine is shut down, install one of these CHECK VALVES somewhere in the fuel system.

INTEGRATED FPR

The Radium fuel hanger features an integrated adjustable fuel pressure regulator. This means a single feed line out (no return) that dead heads at the fuel rail, just like the OE system. This makes the system a simple plug-n-play install into a Mustang with the OE feed line. The built-in regulator is designed to handle the high flow rates of aftermarket pumps.

1:1 RISING RATE VACUUM REFERENCE

RA-series regulators feature a 360 degree swiveling vacuum reference port that is double O-ring sealed. This is the first in the industry. It permits the installer to quickly point the vacuum fitting in any direction with no tools required.

There are 4 interchangeable 10-32 threaded vacuum port fittings provided to cover all scenarios.

Barbed Fitting: A black zinc-plated 3/16" (5mm) barb machined from high strength steel that is compatible with the following vacuum hoses: 5/32" (4mm), 3/16" (5mm), and 7/32" (6mm).

3AN Male Fitting: A black zinc-plated adapter machined from high strength steel that is compatible with 3AN hose ends.

Push-To-Connect: A nickel-plated brass fitting with Buna-N O-rings that is compatible with hard plastic 1/4" OD tubing.

Vacuum Plug: A black oxide stainless steel screw that is used to maintain a constant (non dynamic) fuel pressure. Beginning in the mid 1990s, vehicle manufacturers started transitioning to returnless fuel systems to lower EVAP emissions. To keep temperatures lower, these regulators are mounted inside the tank and do NOT have the ability to be vacuum referenced. This plug would be required in this scenario.

NOTE: When installing the vacuum fitting, it is recommended to use a wicking medium-strength thread locker.

For vehicles with forced induction needing 1:1 rising rate fuel pressure, the built-in regulator features a vacuum reference. If an intake manifold vacuum hose is connected, the built-in FPR will operate at a 1:1 ratio permitting fuel pressure to proportionally increase with manifold (boost) pressure. Conversely, the vacuum port can remain open to atmosphere and pressure will remain constant (like OEM).

https://gumotorsport.com/en-us/products/radium-2011-ford-mustang-fuel-hanger-pumps-not-included-walbro-f90000274-285-or-dw400
