IE FLOW DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM TECHNOLOGY
What is the point of a large intercooler core that can not effectively take full advantage of the increased volume and surface area? IE's Flow Distribution System (FDS) places precisely shaped fins inside the end tank to force airflow evenly across the entire core to distribute the heat more effectively and recover faster. When drastically reducing air intake temperatures for the most significant power gains possible, IE's FDS technology is the proven cheat code.
REQUIRES IE CHARGE PIPES
Our intercooler excels in cooling properties and significantly improves flow at a critical point in the charge system. To seamlessly connect to the larger 70mm inlet and outlet while ensuring a direct airflow path, our IE Aluminum Charge Pipe Kit (IETPCK6) is required. This combination enhances the entire charge air system, delivering high-velocity airflow for unparalleled performance.
NO BOOST LEAKS
This intercooler is designed for big boost. The end tank inlets/outlets and aluminum charge pipes are CNC machined with flat-stop edge and beveled grooves for a high-friction surface that grips your hoses and locks them in place for good.
SECURE AND RELIABLE MOUNTING
IE's Race Intercooler features thick-gauge stainless steel mount brackets and reinforced casting mounts for a long life and worry-free operation. All mounting bosses and surfaces have been precision CNC machined and hand-verified for an exact fit.
HAND TIG WELDED & PRESSURE TESTED
For maximum quality, finish detail, and outstanding quality, every intercooler is meticulously hand TIG welded by intercooler specialists. Every unit undergoes a strict post-welding multi-point critical inspection and is tested in a leak-down station. This manufacturing level ensures a reliable product ready to install and perform out of the box.
PERFECT FIT
You may expect an intercooler of this size to require cutting or extensive modifications to fit. IE engineers use advanced 3D scanning equipment and rapid prototyping to retain a tight, but perfect bolt-in replacement with no permanent modifications.
DEFEAT HEAT SOAK
Heat soak occurs when the air temperatures generated by the turbo exceed the cooling capacity of the intercooler and passes hot air to the engine, spiking IATs. The result is a noticeable loss of power during acceleration and long pulls. Our IE Race Intercooler dramatically increases the core size and useable area of the core with FDS technology to significantly reduced intake air temperatures consistently lower than OEM and competitor intercoolers while increasing flow.
INTAKE AIR TEMP (IAT)
Intake air temperature (IAT) was recorded over consecutive runs on a Stage 3 Hybrid Turbo S4 at over 650WHP. Three wide-open throttle pulls were made back-to-back on an IE Race FDS Intercooler VS. our standard IE FDS Intercooler (IETPCK1). The result was up to 11.4% lower IAT over our alternate performance intercooler design.
FLOW GAIN
To prove the positive effects the intercooler design and FDS system have on airflow and pressure drop, flow testing was performed on the IE Race Intercooler VS. our standard IE FDS Intercooler option. Test results show consistent gains of up to 81.6% increase in flow over our alternate intercooler offering. This increase details the Race Intercooler's efficiency and capability to provide optimal cooling without negatively impacting airflow demands on any build level.
