THREE>FOUR.
Presenting the AWE Exhaust Suite for the Toyota GR Corolla.
The options:
Touring Edition: the epitome of hot-hatch tone. At the intersection of sophistication and aggression lies the Touring Edition Exhaust – a 3” T304L stainless steel downpipe-back configuration providing a deep, full-bodied, powerful soundtrack that gives the GRC a complete attitude change from idle to full-throttle (and everything in between).
Featuring AWE’s patented drone-killing 180 Technology®, the Touring Edition unlocks every bit of raw nature out of the 1.6L, minus the very particular frequencies that cause discomfort in the cabin (read: these particular frequencies were capable of truly breaking the threshold of the GRCs cabin structure to cause what most would perceive as drone at highways speeds).
180 Technology® resonators feature zero packing material to prevent tone change over time, while also featuring a straight-through design for optimal flow. Their sole purpose is to destroy drone-prone frequencies while providing an uncongested exhaust note paired with straight-pipe performance.
Track Edition: for those who like their volume like their speed (and want to feel the raw nature of the GRC’s potent 3-cylinder at all speeds) the Track Edition features a non-resonated mid-section (i.e. no 180 Technology®).
It’s even louder (in & out), it’s cost-effective and isn’t for the faint of heart. As a result, this version is known to get rowdy in mid-range acceleration/deceleration and cruising, and may be too much for some. For this reason, the Track Edition cannot be returned for sound reasons--you've been warned.
Single 3” to triple 2.5” design:
Touring and Track Editions feature a 3” inlet of the mid-pipe to accommodate further modification upstream without disruption. Thanks to the stamped stainless merge in the rear, the transition from single 3” to triple 2.5” flows fluidly through each outlet.
Bullets in the back:
Each exhaust features a mix of bespoke straight-through bullet-style resonators in the rear to provide an aggressive tone while parenting rasp.
Tailored tips:
One bespoke 4.5" x 8" oval double-walled, slash-cut tip in the center flanked by two 5” double-walled, slash-cut tips in diamond black. These are the best-looking aftermarket tips available for the GRC.
Conversion kits:
AWE makes it easy to convert existing Track Editions into Touring Editions, or vice versa, if you decide at a later date to turn your interior volume up or down. Please note: both the Touring and Track Editions are aggressive, and the difference lies in a fine threshold of intense frequencies produced by the 1.6L at highway cruising speeds.
Nope, they’re not valved:
During R&D, AWE conducted a (quite painstaking) full evaluation of the factory valve and its behavior under various driving conditions to determine its reason for existing. The valve is not controllable by the driver whatsoever–meaning regardless of the driving mode, buttons, settings, etc, there’s no opening/closing the valve from within the cabin. It works directly off of throttle input and only opens upon a certain breach of a threshold declared by the ECU very low in the rev range. Its sole purpose is for backpressure, and considering the factory exhaust design, flow is given priority to the center outlet (the larger one). The factory rear muffler is baffled with no packing material and only directs flow to the left and right exits when cruising at light throttle inputs.
After confirming this, and given our configurations already remove any backpressure issues organically, it would have been pointless to incorporate a valve.
Power to the pavement:
Dyno-verified gains of +3 hp and +1 lb-ft of torque at the wheels on an otherwise stock vehicle.
100% emission-friendly:
Touring and Track Editions do not interfere with any factory emissions equipment.
Weights:
Track Edition: 37.5 lbs (with clamps & tips) | Touring Edition: 46.5 lbs (with clamps & tips)
AWE uses T304L stainless steel with a wall thickness of .065". The overall weights of each system are directly reflective of the material used, the increase in diameter throughout the exhaust, and the increase in component content.
Made in PA, USA:
Engineered, designed, and manufactured in-house at AWE using US-sourced .065”-wall T304L stainless steel to achieve a tone deeper than everyone else.
